  • Yield: 2 big buns 1x

Ingredients

Scale

285g wheat flour
180ml water
1 tbsp olive oil (10g)
1 tsp turmeric
5g dry yeast
1 pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, pour the flour and make a small well in the center.
  2. Add the oil, turmeric, and yeast into the well.
  3. Gradually add the water while gently mixing the ingredients together.
  4. Mix until everything is well incorporated.
  5. Transfer the dough onto a work surface and knead (add a bit of flour if necessary to work with the dough).
  6. Form a ball and let it rest for at least an hour. The dough should double in size.
  7. Knead again and shape the dough into two small buns of your desired size and shape.
  8. Let them rest for 45 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  10. Brush the buns with some plant-based milk and sprinkle a few seeds on top.
  11. Bake at 200°C for about 15 minutes. Feel free to adjust the baking time to your preferred level of doneness.
  12. Enjoy!

Notes

I love making buns on rainy Sundays. That way, I can enjoy burgers on the following days if I feel like it. You can also freeze the buns (just remember to cut them in half first) and enjoy them whenever you like.
